There are millions of Americans struggling with substance abuse. Addiction is difficult to overcome without assistance. Many individuals are unable to even admit they have a problem until they either hurt themselves or someone close to them. A study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed an estimated 115 patients die every day due to a drug overdose. If you suffer from an addiction and do not get help, you are not only risking your own life, but also the life of your friends and family.
Overcoming a substance addiction is difficult, but there are resources available. The most effective way to overcome an addiction is receiving rehabilitation treatment. Rehabilitation is available from recovery centers. There are two types of rehabilitation, inpatient and outpatient. Inpatient rehabilitation is the most intensive. At an inpatient clinic, you temporarily move into the recovery center for the duration of your care, giving you constant access to rehabilitation services.
Free Inpatient Rehabilitation Treatment
Signing up for inpatient rehabilitation treatment is a big commitment, but it is an important step in overcoming your addiction. The free treatment itself is intensive and does not end once you complete your treatment in the recovery center. The majority of your treatment at a rehabilitation center involves therapy to identify what caused your addiction and how to overcome it. However, your entire day is not filled with therapy treatments.
One of the reasons inpatient rehabilitation is more effective than outpatient is you get the opportunity to take a break from your life. Many addictions are caused by difficult work or home situations. Staying in a recovery center gives you the opportunity to temporarily escape these situations and reassess your life. A common misconception is rehabilitation clinics are bleak environments, where patients are confined to their rooms and therapy sessions. Recovery is only possible if you feel safe and relaxed, which is why the clinics are designed with comfort in mind.
State-Sponsored Rehab Centers
The first step to attending a free drug rehab center is undergoing an investigation. When you check into a clinic, you meet with a counselor. The counselor acts many questions regarding your addiction. These questions allow your counselor to identify the nature of your addiction, including what caused it and the severity. With this information, the counselor can customize a treatment plan, walking you through each of the proposed steps.
The interview process also determines how long you stay. In most cases, there are three treatment lengths, 30, 60, or 90 days. Your type of drug addiction and personal history both determine how long you stay. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) encourages patients to complete the full 90 days, whenever possible.
Detoxing the Mind and Body
Once your interview is complete, you must complete a detox session before you begin therapy. Detoxification is a difficult process, where you remove all the drugs or alcohol from your system. How long it takes to complete detox depends on your addiction. On average, it takes between three to 14 days. During the process, your counselor helps you with any side effects from withdrawals. You may also be administered medication to deal with more serious side effects, commonly associated with severe drugs like morphine or heroin.
Rehab Therapy Process
Overcoming an addiction involves therapeutic treatment. Rehabilitation clinics offer multiple types of therapy. All patients attend individual therapy. During these therapy sessions, you work one-on-one with a therapist to figure out what caused your addiction. Your therapist helps you identify all the triggers in your life which drive you to use drugs. Together, you come up with healthier options to confront these triggers.
Family counseling is also available at rehabilitation clinics. During family counseling, you and your family members attend a therapy session together. Your family members share how they view your addiction, including what effect it has on their lives. In some cases, your therapist may separate your family members so you do not feel overwhelmed and have an opportunity to process what they are saying. Despite the name, close friends may also be allowed in family counseling sessions. After the session, your therapist may speak with your family members to explain how they can help in your recovery.
The final type of treatment is aftercare. Aftercare is the type of therapy you attend after being released from the clinic. While you are not required to attend therapy afterward, it is strongly recommended to avoid relapsing. Aftercare may involve scheduling individual or group therapy sessions. In some cases, you can continue to see the same counselor. Your therapist may also recommend staying in transitional housing on release, such as moving into a sober living home.
Luxury Rehabilitation Clinics Costs
Inpatient rehabilitation is expensive, costing on average $10,000 to $20,000 per 30 days. The price is largely determined by the clinic you attend. Many patients are unable to pay for rehabilitation clinics. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) offer free rehabilitation clinics throughout the United States. Each state also has additional rehabilitation services for lower-income residents. These programs either provide discounted or free drug rehab services. Free drug rehab is offered in many services. There are inpatient options, as well as outpatient services. Select clinics also specialize in treating lower-income patients! We are here to help with that.
Your insurance plan may also include coverage for rehabilitation clinics. What services are covered varies based on your insurance plan. In addition to inpatient care, check to see if medical detox, maintenance medication, or follow-up counseling are part of your coverage.
